Associate Attorney – Workers Compensation Jobs in California at Employnet Workforce Management

Position Summary

We are seeking two motivated Associate Attorneys to join our growing Workers’ Compensation practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for a newly licensed attorney or someone with up to two years of experience who wants to build a successful litigation career representing injured workers throughout California.

You’ll manage your own caseload while receiving mentorship from experienced attorneys in a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth, courtroom experience, and long-term career development.

Candidates may choose to work from either our Los Angeles or Bakersfield office with a flexible hybrid work schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of California workers’ compensation matters from intake through resolution.
  • Represent clients before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB).
  • Attend hearings, Mandatory Settlement Conferences (MSCs), status conferences, and depositions.
  • Conduct client consultations and maintain regular communication throughout the life of each case.
  • Draft pleadings, petitions, motions, correspondence, and legal briefs.
  • Conduct discovery, including depositions of applicants, witnesses, medical providers, and expert witnesses.
  • Negotiate settlements, including Compromise & Release agreements and Stipulations with Request for Award.
  • Work closely with paralegals and legal assistants to ensure efficient case progression.
  • Research legal issues and remain current on California workers’ compensation laws and regulations.
  • Advocate for clients while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and ethical standards.

Qualifications

Required

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar in good standing.
  • 0–2 years of legal experience.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and client relationship skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Professional demeanor in court and during negotiations.

Preferred

  • Experience handling California Workers’ Compensation matters.
  • Applicant-side workers’ compensation experience.
  • Prior internship, externship, or clerkship involving workers’ compensation or civil litigation.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus but not required.
