Job Summary
This is a PROMOTIONAL opportunity open to current County of San Diego employees working in the Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk Department only. Recordable Documents Specialist II is the journey-level technical class of the series and is allocated only to the Office of the Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk, Recorder and Clerk Divisions. Incumbents are responsible for processing legal documents requiring substantial knowledge of special aspects of the law related to receiving, reviewing, and making determinations on the legal recordability or filing of documents, independently research, record, file, and index legal documents, and issue licenses and registrations. Incumbents are responsible for providing the public with authoritative assistance on a wide range of documents (over 1,000) pertaining to the acceptability of legal documents submitted for recording as public records. Incumbents may also act as a lead worker providing technical guidance and training to others in the process of recording, filing, licensing, registrations, and indexing requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Two (2) years of full-time experience in a Recorder or County Clerk’s Office performing legal document processing, recording or indexing work; OR,
2. Three (3) years of full-time experience processing legal or recordable documents in a legal court, government, real estate, property, title or similar setting.
EVALUATION
The names of qualified candidates will be placed on a three (3) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment application and supplemental questionnaire.
