Job Description
Acts on authority delegated by the District Attorney to represent the Commonwealth and the County in the prosecutions of those persons who are alleged to have violated the law of the Commonwealth within the County, represent the Commonwealth and the County on direct and post-conviction relief act appeals to the Pennsylvania Superior Court, Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and federal courts.

Starting Salary: $32.20 an hour / $62,790.00 annually

Work Hours: This position will work and be paid for 75 hours in a 2 week pay period
Current Cumberland County Employees will follow the County Promotion/Demotion policy.
Responsibilities:
Upon authority delegated by the District Attorney:
Performs the duties of an assistant district attorney, which include:
Assists police in the investigation of criminal offenses.
Provides legal opinions to police relative to investigations.
Conducts legal research and writes opinions thereon.
Advises police on the drafting of criminal complaints, search warrants and statements of probable cause.
Evaluates evidence relative to propriety of criminal charges and search warrants.
Review and sign criminal information.
Assembles and evaluates evidence, interviews, and prepares witnesses for various court appearances.
Represents the Commonwealth in the prosecution of cases at preliminary hearing, pretrial motions, pre-trial conferences, trials before court and/or jury, post-verdict motions and appeals to Superior and Supreme Courts of Pennsylvania.
Interacts with all other state and local law enforcement agencies and local individuals and organization.
Uphold all ethical duties to seek justice in all cases.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Juris doctor degree and admission to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
Some training in computer helpful.
Continuing legal education required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Preferred but not required.
