Assistant Corporation Counsel – Special Federal Litigation
The New York City Law Department’s Special Federal Litigation Division seeks attorneys for the position of Assistant Corporation Counsel.
Responsibilities include: defending the City and its officials in civil rights cases in federal court, handling cases involving police, district attorney, or correction officer misconduct, constitutional challenges, and class actions. The role involves managing a caseload from inception to resolution through motions, settlement, or trial, including investigations, court appearances, discovery, depositions, motions, negotiations, and trials.
Post-orientation, attorneys may opt for remote work options, including limited remote work or a pilot program with set days at home, subject to division approval and in-person requirements.
Applicants must have at least two years of litigation experience, be admitted to practice in New York, and be eligible for admission to SDNY and EDNY. Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills are required.
