Assistant Commonwealth Attorney I Jobs in Woodstock, VA at Shenandoah County

The Sponsored Programs Administration department located on the Sacramento State campus is seeking to hire one Graduate or law school student assistant. This student assistant will assist in the development and tracking of subawards and consultant agreements, as well as requests, collects, and reviews documents. Additionally, this position will be responsible for researching project deliverables, monitoring deadlines, maintaining project files, tracking certificates of insurance, and providing administrative support.

Conditions of Employment

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check: educational verification (degree, license, or official transcript) or DMV clearance. Applicants will be required to pass required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department.

UEI does not allow students to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one account per pay period. UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI Student assistant position for a different UEI student assistant position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week’s notice.

UEI is not a multi-state employer. UEI only employs candidates who live and work in the state of California. If selected for the position you must reside in California and all work must be performed in the state of California throughout the course of employment.

Prerequisites

Must be a graduate or law student enrolled in at least four-semester units.

Work Schedule

F lexible workdays and work hours, Monday – Friday, between 8 AM – 5 PM. Final work schedule to be determined by supervisor.

Additional Work Schedule

Graduate Student Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per workweek (Sunday – Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring & summer).

M inimum Qualifications

Must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.
Enrolled in a graduate program in Business Administration, Public Policy and Administration, Economics, Finance, Government, or related program or enrolled in a school of law within the Sacramento region.
Proficient with Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook, & PowerPoint.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including excellent command of the English language including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
Ability to communicate effectively over the phone, in person and through written correspondence.
Ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented.
Knowledge of basic clerical practices and experience working in a busy professional office.
Experience with editing, creating, and signing within Adobe Acrobat.

Preferred Qualifications

Project management skills.
Electronic document approval systems; other software workflows.

Duties and Responsibilities

Draft non-complex subaward and professional services agreements using a template; proofread and edit complex subaward agreements.
Assist with tracking of pending subaward, professional services, and consultant agreements and communicate with internal and external individuals, initiating follow up requests as needed.
Analyze regulations, legislation, and legal matters; conduct routine legal research.
Mail or email copies of fully executed subaward and professional services agreements and draft applicable transmittal notices.
Assist with contract management system data entry and data integrity reviews.
Track subrecipient certificates of insurance and contact insurance companies as needed.
Complete certificate of insurance request forms where UEI is the contractor.
Perform an administrative review of project deliverable reports and research the status of reports.
Calendar and track contract deadlines.
Maintain project files.
Attend various group meetings, take minutes, provide meeting follow up, and track progress.
Provide front desk back up support and other clerical duties as assigned.
Perform other related duties in support of the administration of Sacramento State Sponsored Program activity.

Physical Requirements

Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office environment.
