Watts & Associates is working discreetly with a highly regarded Am Law 100 national law firm seeking a 2nd to 5th year Appellate Litigation Associate to join its Seattle, Washington office.

This is a litigation focused opportunity for an associate who enjoys sophisticated legal writing, rigorous issue analysis, and advocacy at the appellate level. The role is based in Seattle with an in office expectation of five days per week.

The firm offers a full service national platform and a collaborative, partner led environment where associates are integrated into core case teams. Matters are typically complex and commercially significant, with opportunities to work across jurisdictions and alongside trial teams on strategy and significant motion practice.

The Opportunity

Support appellate and trial teams through brief writing, legal research, developing persuasive arguments, preserving issues for appeal, preparing advocates for oral argument, and assisting with significant motions. The practice includes work in state and federal courts across the country and offers meaningful exposure to appellate strategy and trial level issue development.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The firm is seeking a 2nd to 5th year Appellate Litigation Associate with:

  • 2 to 5 years of civil litigation experience, including strong motion practice and legal writing responsibilities
  • Prior or current federal or state appellate court clerkship experience
  • Admission to, or eligibility to waive into, the Washington State Bar or Oregon State Bar
  • Exceptional legal research, writing and analytical skills
  • Strong academic credentials

Compensation
