About the Role:

We are seeking an AI Legal Specialist to join a fast-growing technology business operating at the intersection of AI, compliance, and digital products. This is a broad, hands-on legal and compliance role suited to someone who enjoys working across multiple legal disciplines, takes ownership of deliverables, and is eager to develop expertise in emerging technology and AI governance.

The successful candidate will support legal and compliance initiatives across data privacy, AI governance, contracts, intellectual property, policy management, and regulatory compliance. This position is ideal for a legal professional who can balance execution with strategic thinking and communicate complex legal concepts clearly to business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage legal and compliance workflows across multiple areas, including:
  • Data protection and privacy compliance (GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, and related regulations)
  • Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and Transfer Impact Assessments (TIAs)
  • AI governance documentation and regulatory compliance
  • Product and feature compliance reviews
  • Intellectual property matters, including copyright and infringement issues
  • Contract review and negotiation (NDAs, licensing agreements, vendor contracts)
  • Maintenance and updates of Terms of Service, Privacy Notices, and internal policies
  • Provide practical legal guidance to cross-functional teams.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on business operations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance requirements are met.
  • Support vendor management and contractual discussions.
  • Assist in developing scalable legal and compliance processes.

Must-Have Requirements

  • Master’s in Law (LLM), Juris Doctor (JD), or equivalent legal qualification.
  • 2-6 years of relevant legal and compliance experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience working with:
  • Commercial contracts
  • Data privacy and data protection regulations
  • GDPR and related compliance frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience preparing or supporting:
  • Data Processing Agreements (DPAs)
  • Transfer Impact Assessments (TIAs)
  • Experience engaging with vendors and external parties regarding contractual matters.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and practical manner.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge decisions when compliance risks exist.
  • Adaptable, proactive mindset with a willingness to learn new legal and regulatory areas quickly.

Preferred Experience

  • Qualified Attorney or Legal Counsel certification.
  • Experience within technology companies, SaaS businesses, digital platforms, or high-growth startups.
  • Exposure to AI governance, AI compliance, or emerging technology regulations.
  • Experience supporting B2C products or online platforms.
  • Additional language capabilities.

Work Environment

This role supports AI companionship products and may involve exposure to uncensored, NSFW AI-generated content during product testing and feature reviews. Candidates should be comfortable working with such content in a professional setting.
