Our client, a leading international private bank in Singapore is looking for experienced client onboarding candidates with 5 to 8+ years of relevant Private Banking CDD experience in particular covering China Market to be part of their expanding CDD team.
This is a newly created headcount established to support their continued organic growth in the Private Banking business. As a AVP- VP, Client Onboarding, you will play a critical hands-on role in driving the end-to-end onboarding of new private banking clients while upholding the highest standards of regulatory compliance, risk management, and client experience.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Execute end-to-end client onboarding for Private Banking clients, including account opening, KYC/CDD reviews, Source of Wealth (SOW) and Source of Funds (SOF) verification, sanctions screening, and enhanced due diligence on complex client structures (individuals, trusts, family offices, and corporates).
- Hands-on BAU delivery – personally manage high-volume and/or complex onboarding cases, ensuring timely completion while maintaining full compliance with HKMA, SFC, AML/CTF, FATCA, CRS, and internal policies.
- Collaborate closely with Relationship Managers (RMs), Wealth Structuring teams, Compliance, Legal, and Operations to resolve queries, address documentation gaps, and deliver a seamless onboarding experience for clients and bankers.
- Monitor onboarding pipelines, SLAs, and quality metrics; proactively identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement initiatives to shorten turnaround times without compromising controls.
- Provide expert guidance on regulatory and risk matters during client onboarding; escalate material issues to senior stakeholders and support periodic reviews/trigger events where required.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of onboarding policies, procedures, and digital tools to enhance efficiency and client-centricity.
- Mentor and support junior team members; act as a point of escalation and knowledge leader within the onboarding function.
Requirements of the role:
- Experience: Minimum 5 to 8+ years of relevant private banking experience (experience in China market is a plus), with strong hands-on BAU exposure in client onboarding, KYC/CDD, AML, and account opening processes.
- Proven track record of managing end-to-end onboarding for HNW/UHNW clients with a client-service mindset and strong attention to detail.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or above in Business, Finance, Law, or a related discipline. Relevant professional qualifications are advantageous.
