A well-established and growing law firm is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Associate Attorney to join its Jackson, Mississippi office. This role offers the opportunity to manage a dynamic caseload, handle discovery and litigation strategy, and contribute to a supportive and inclusive legal team. Location:
Duties:
Evaluate new cases and develop initial case strategy, budgets, and recommendations
Manage all aspects of case litigation including discovery, depositions, and hearings
Draft and review legal documents including discovery responses and pleadings
Oversee and collaborate with paralegals and legal support staff
Report on litigation events such as depositions and hearings
Negotiate settlements and prepare for trial where necessary
Maintain proactive and regular communication with clients and team members
Requirements:
3–5 years of legal experience preferred, particularly in workers’ compensation or insurance defense
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent interpersonal and client communication abilities
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated initiative and reliability in task execution
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law in the State of Mississippi
Skills:
Knowledge of workers’ compensation litigation processes and standards
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn firm-specific software
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple ongoing matters
