Position Summary:
The Immigration Paralegal will work with attorneys in the practice group, focusing primarily on business and employment related cases. This position will review and maintain files, prepare correspondence and perform legal research.
Essential Functions:
Draft, review and file various petitions including H-1B, L-1, O-1, TN, J-1 and E-1/E-2 visa petitions, PERM applications, immigrant visa petitions and adjustment of status applications.
Gather facts and documentation in support of petitions.
Review files for status, maintain and organize client matters and calendars.
Draft correspondence regarding procedural matters, status updates and letters in support of petitions.
Interact with government agencies, including the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Service.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Thorough knowledge of immigration procedures and processes
In depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles
Ability to effectively prioritize and work independently while remaining focused on deadlines and multiple projects
Ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy
Working knowledge of INSZoom
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Desired:
Fluent communication skills in Spanish or other languages
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree in related discipline required. Bachelor’s degree in related discipline preferred.
1 – 3 years of experience in similar field required. Prior immigration work experience or training preferred.
Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved paralegal program preferred.
