Position
Due to continued growth our busy but relaxed general high street practice on the south side of Glasgow seeks trainee solicitor to start summer 2026. Must demonstrate a professional manner, show initiative and have an interest in residential conveyancing. You will work within a supportive team under the supervision of one of our senior solicitors.
There may be scope to spend time in other departments within the business but initially you will spend 12 months in the residential conveyancing team.
Main duties will include:-
Preparation of fee estimates and offers;
Answering calls or dealing with in person enquires from new clients;
Dealing with initial enquiries and reviewing home reports, noting interest and dealing with closing dates;
File opening (via case management system) and onboarding;
Issue Letters of Engagement;
Negotiate dates of entry with relevant parties;
Ordering searches;
Drafting Advance Notices and submitting
Assisting with residential purchase and sales, re-mortgages and/or other transfers of title
Preparation of Fee notes;
Submitting LBTT returns and payment of LBTT;
Preparing registration forms and submitting applications to Registers of Scotland; and
Speaking with clients and providing regular updates on transactions.

The position would most likely be based in our Clarkston office and to ensure proper training and supervision working from home is not generally available to trainees.
Staff are entitled to 4 weeks paid annual leave plus 10 public holidays each year.

Qualifications
You must have an LLB and hold (or be expected imminently to hold) a Diploma in Legal Practice.
