Role Description
The Trademark Registration Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Dubai, responsible for overseeing the end-to-end process of trademark registration and protection for AAA and its clients. The role involves advising clients on intellectual property rights, conducting trademark searches, handling filings and oppositions, whilst ensuring compliance with local and international trademark laws and regulations.
We have Arab IP lawyers in UAE, KSA and Egypt. However, this TM registration position and TM registration service will be a first time launch for our company. As such the ideal fit provides the most comprehensive business proposal reflecting the launch and management of TM registration services across eight countries (initial immediate priority in UAE, KSA and Egypt).
The manager will liaise with external legal counsel, government authorities, and internal stakeholders to prepare documentation, track application statuses, and resolve issues. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining accurate records, monitoring potential infringements, supporting anti-counterfeiting initiatives, and preparing reports and recommendations on trademark strategy. The role also involves optimizing processes, contributing to policy development, and supporting cross-border projects within the GCC and wider region.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and Manage AAA’s trademark registration service for the following:
- Handle end-to-end trademark registration processes (filing, prosecution, renewals, assignments, and recordables).
- Conduct trademark availability searches and provide legal opinions on registrability and risks.
- Draft and file trademark applications (national, regional, and international, including Madrid Protocol).
- Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating IP-related agreements, such as licensing agreements, distribution agreements, coexistence agreements, and related commercial IP contracts.
- Manage office actions, objections, oppositions, cancellations, and appeals.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of trademark portfolios.
- Keep updated with local and international IP laws and regulations.
- Liaise with trademark offices, clients, and international associates.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Fluency in the Arabic language is a must, with over 10 years of experience in the trademark registration, prosecution and IP Law
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) – required
- Master’s in Intellectual Property (or a related field) is preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of UAE and intellectual property laws, regulations, and procedures and international filings
- Excellent research, drafting, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines
