Watts & Associates is working discreetly with a highly regarded Am Law 100 national full-service law firm with a growing intellectual property platform seeking a Trademark Litigation & Intellectual Property Associate with 3+ years of experience to join its Chicago, IL office.
This opportunity offers trademark, copyright, false-advertising and unfair-competition disputes for brand owners and innovative businesses within a nationally recognised intellectual property practice. The successful attorney will work closely with an entrepreneurial intellectual property and litigation team, take ownership of substantive matters and gain exposure to federal-court, TTAB, enforcement and broader brand-protection matters.

The Role
The successful attorney will support and lead IP disputes, including:
- Draft pleadings, motions and substantive briefs
- Handle written discovery and document production
- Prepare for and conduct depositions
- Support trademark and copyright enforcement strategy
- Manage TTAB opposition and cancellation proceedings
- Advise on false advertising and unfair competition
- Work with experts, witnesses and client teams
- Prepare hearings, mediations and trial materials
- Contribute to settlements and risk-management advice
The role offers direct collaboration with partners, senior attorneys and clients, together with increasing responsibility and opportunities to take ownership of important workstreams.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The firm is seeking a Trademark Litigation & Intellectual Property Associate with:
- At least three years of relevant litigation experience
- Trademark, copyright or broader IP disputes experience
- Excellent legal research, writing and advocacy skills
- Strong discovery and case-management fundamentals
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
- Excellent academic credentials and an accredited J.D preferably from a T25 law school.
- Illinois Bar admission
- Experience within a sophisticated law-firm practice
TTAB, federal-court trademark, false-advertising or copyright litigation experience is strongly preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated base salary range is $175,000–$330,000, depending on experience, qualifications, location and other relevant factors.
