Objectives

Individual is responsible for providing administrative support to the Prosecutor and Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys for felony cases filed in Delaware County. Physical presence is necessary in the office. Regular, predictable and prompt attendance is needed. Individual reports directly to the Chief Criminal Assistant Prosecutor, Executive Administrator and the Prosecuting Attorney. The individual exercises independent judgment with direction. The individuals is required to maintain confidentiality.

Job Standards

Minimum Educational and Licensing requirements:
High School diploma or GED required.
Two (2) years related work experience, preferably in a local governmental office
Notary Public, or willing to obtain within a year of employment
Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record
Must pass a drug screen
Must have pass background check

Essential Functions

Prepares and distributes legal documents such as complaints, discovery, motions, judgment entries, change of pleas, probation violations, warrant to convey, subpoenas, dismissals, bills of information, Governor’s warrants and other legal paper work as needed
Answers telephone, gives and receives information to witnesses, attorneys, law enforcement and common pleas court staff
Contacts witnesses and law enforcement to relay necessary case information
Handles client complaints and public inquiries
Receives, processes, distributes and maintains incoming and outgoing documentation and correspondence
Coordinates arrangements necessary for search warrants with law enforcement, attorneys, courts and court reporters
Completes daily felony arrest information
Schedules changes of plea with court and defense attorneys, contacts witnesses to relay necessary case information
Schedules Grand Jury procedures, sends invitation letters to possible defendants, prepares indictments, and sends reports to Judge for public record documentation
Prepares subpoenas for law enforcement agencies to obtain necessary records involving suspected criminal cases
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive material
Other duties as assigned by the Prosecuting Attorney, Executive Administrator and Chief Assistant Criminal Prosecutor
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Equipment:
Ability to operate normal office equipment such as computer, copier, fax
machine, telephone, calculator, paper shredder, motor vehicle, and other equipment necessary to perform duties. Good understanding of and ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point) and Internet (Explorer and Chrome).

Critical skills/expertise:
Knowledge of the Delaware County Criminal Justice System.
Demonstrates integrity and reliability, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to prioritize, and meet deadlines.
Ability to constructively communicate.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of the Ohio Revised Code, criminal case law, and criminal procedure.
Ability to deal with many variables, define and solve problems, collect, analyze and interpret data, establish facts and determine specific action, evaluate and improve process and/or program efficiency/effectiveness.
Ability to work with clients who may be upset, distraught, irate, emotionally or mentally or otherwise unable to function within reasonable range of constructive behaviors.
Ability to work independently as well as work as part of a coordinated team of professionals, under pressure, and to set and achieve goals.
Ability to organize and maintain large volumes of information and paperwork.
Ability to interpret and implement policies, procedures and governmental codes.
Superior interpersonal skills, and aptitude for developing and maintaining effective working relationships through teamwork and cooperation with supervisors, subordinates, employees and the general public.
