The Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that the online marketplace complies with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements related to digital product sales. This includes managing required licenses, permits, and compliance processes across the entire e-commerce platform. The role involves collaborating closely with legal teams to interpret and navigate complex regulations, ensuring the platform operates in full legal compliance and maintains operational integrity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compliance Oversight:
Monitor and interpret evolving e-commerce regulations at local, national, and international levels (e.g., data privacy, consumer protection, product safety, import/export laws).
Identify potential compliance risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
Conduct regular audits to assess adherence to regulatory standards and ensure ongoing compliance.
Licensing Management:
Oversee the acquisition, renewal, and maintenance of all necessary licenses and permits required for online sales (e.g., seller permits, tax registrations, industry-specific licenses).
Track license expiration dates and initiate timely renewal processes to avoid operational disruptions.
Manage relationships with relevant licensing authorities to ensure compliance with all legal requirements.
Vendor Due Diligence:
Conduct thorough vetting of new vendors to verify compliance with relevant regulations and licensing requirements.
Continuously monitor vendor compliance to ensure ongoing adherence to regulatory standards.
Data Privacy:
Implement and maintain robust data privacy practices to protect customer information in accordance with data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Develop and enforce data privacy policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable legal frameworks.
Legal Support:
Collaborate with legal counsel to address complex regulatory issues, interpret legal documents, and navigate compliance challenges.
Provide legal guidance on new product launches or business initiatives, ensuring adherence to e-commerce regulations.
Internal Training and Awareness:
Educate internal teams (sales, marketing, customer service) on relevant e-commerce regulations and compliance procedures.
Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs to raise awareness of compliance obligations across the organization.
Reporting and Analysis:
Generate regular compliance reports, highlighting potential risks, challenges, and areas for improvement.
Analyze data and trends to proactively address emerging regulatory concerns and ensure ongoing compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS: General knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of e-commerce regulations, including data privacy laws, consumer protection laws, and industry-specific compliance requirements.
Strong legal acumen with the ability to interpret complex legal documents and provide actionable guidance.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
Proven experience managing licensing processes and maintaining accurate compliance records.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including legal, sales, marketing, and operations.
Strong project management skills to oversee multiple compliance initiatives simultaneously and ensure timely execution.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
BA/BS plus 10 years in Ecommerce compliance.
