A nationwide criminal appeals law firm is looking for an experienced appeals attorney to lead the firm’s California practice.
Background:
The firm currently has multiple other employees assigned to the California practice who would assist this new hire, including an office manager/paralegal. One of the firm’s attorneys will likely have to step back from his cases due to a California Bar disciplinary proceeding. The firm’s goal is to provide continuity of representation and high-quality advocacy for its clients. This position would require a great deal of work getting up to speed on cases, although it offers high compensation as well as a unique opportunity to join an existing and successful law firm in a management position.
Compensation:
Yearly salary: $180,000 to $240,000 depending on experience.
Signing bonus: $10,000
Duties:
Handling a large number of post-conviction proceedings throughout California as lead attorney, including both in-person and remote court appearances.
Fielding phone calls to and from existing clients, prosecutors, and courts.
Managing a paralegal and other administrative staff as necessary.
Requirements:
California Bar admission
Experience in criminal law
Experience in appellate law
Hours and Location:
Except for court appearances in various courts in California, all work can be done either remotely or in the office.
No weekend or evening work is required.
