Accountabilities

As a Senior Healthcare Contracts Specialist, you will serve as a key partner in managing commercial contracting activities from initial review through execution. You will provide contracting expertise, support business objectives, and ensure agreements align with established legal standards, operational needs, and risk management practices.

  • Draft, review, revise, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including master services agreements, vendor agreements, healthcare-related contracts, data-sharing agreements, statements of work, amendments, renewals, and confidentiality agreements.
  • Prepare high-quality contract language and redlines using approved templates, standard clauses, negotiation playbooks, and internal legal guidance.
  • Analyze non-standard contractual provisions, resolve routine negotiations independently, and escalate complex legal, regulatory, or business risks when appropriate.
  • Act as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned contracting matters and support efficient contract execution across the organization.
  • Partner with Sales, Operations, Finance, IT, Compliance, and leadership teams to deliver timely contracting solutions.
  • Provide recommendations on contractual terms, risk allocation, negotiation strategies, and process improvements.
  • Contribute to the refinement of contract templates, standard clauses, fallback positions, and negotiation frameworks.
  • Maintain accurate contract records and support contract lifecycle management processes, ensuring documentation is complete and organized.
  • Identify opportunities to improve contracting workflows, standardization, efficiency, and overall risk management practices.

Requirements

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience managing complex commercial agreements, strong contract negotiation capabilities, and the ability to operate independently in a high-volume environment. You should combine strong legal and business understanding with excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex contractual concepts into practical recommendations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing complex commercial contracts.
  • Proven experience independently managing contract negotiations with customers, vendors, business partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to interpret, draft, and negotiate sophisticated legal and business agreements.
  • Knowledge of contract law principles, contractual risk allocation, and commercial negotiation practices.
  • Experience identifying legal, operational, financial, and compliance risks within agreements and recommending practical solutions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create polished contract language and communicate effectively with business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, including Track Changes, redlining, document comparison, formatting, and management of complex documents.
  • Experience using contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms and document management systems.
  • Preferred: Experience negotiating healthcare-related agreements such as payer, provider, vendor, technology, data-sharing, and Business Associate Agreements.
  • Preferred: Paralegal certification, contract management certification (such as NCMA), or Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
