Primary Purpose Of The Job
To provide legal advice and opinions with respect to procurement of goods and services or
tenders of QatarEnergy, its subsidiaries, affiliates or Qatar state-owned entities
To negotiate procurement contracts such as EPIC, FEED, Drilling, Wells services, Oil Field Tools, Maintenance, Spare parts, Turnaround, MSA, Framework, Inspection, Consultancy, IT and general goods and services contracts
To provide general commercial Legal advice on a wide range of operational matters including leases, infrastructure and operational contracts as assigned by the Associate General Counsel or Head Counsel, in accordance with QatarEnergy’s Policies and applicable laws and regulations to the best interest of QatarEnergy.
To help continuously improve the way department and its clients works for example by: improving model contracts, creating guidance material, training others, creating digital tools to empower colleagues in the front lines and simplifying the way we work
Required Experience And Skills
Excellent legal drafting and writing skills in English;
At least 12 years of legal and contracts experience including most of the practice areas listed in the Primary Purposes above;
Must have experience in the upstream and downstream oil and gas industry;
Experience in the engineering and construction industries is highly advantageous;
Experience with Land matters and property law in industrial oil/gas/chemical complexes/refineries/LNG plants such as industrial land leases, corridor licenses, pipeline crossings and other infrastructure agreements would be a plus

Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office suite of tools.
Workload is high, the successful candidate can stay calm and positive and has a proven track record of:
Providing practical advice
Knowing when to dive deep into legal analyses and when 80/20 will do
Being able to separate the big issues from the small issues
Being able to prioritise
Being able to manage a wide area of clients and managing conflicting deadlines
Educational Qualifications
Juris Doctorate, Bachelors of Law or equivalent from recognized University, preferably post graduations studies or master degree of law;
Civil law background is preferred but it is not mandatory; additional common law background/experience is advantageous in particular drafting of contracts
Excellent command of spoken and written English
