Job Description:
The Specialist, Contracts will support and lead the negotiation of multi‑million dollar cross border agreements related to the sale of private jets for special missions, draft and negotiate aircraft purchase, data license, engineering services, and modification agreements, and provide ongoing commercial and legal support to internal and external customers. The role will drive business results by anticipating risks, initiating mitigation plans, engaging with management, and contributing to process improvement.
International travel may be required.
Responsibilities
- Support and/or lead the negotiation of multi‑million dollar cross border agreements related to the sale of private jets for special missions around the world.
- Draft and negotiate an array of agreements such as aircraft purchase agreements, data license agreements, engineering services agreements, and aircraft modification agreements.
- Support aircraft delivery objectives by providing ongoing commercial and/or legal support to internal and external customers.
- Drive business results by anticipating risks and initiating creative and effective mitigation plans.
- Engage with management to raise unresolved contractual risks in a timely way.
- Initiate correspondence to customers, including invoices, in accordance with the purchase agreement and ensure appropriate follow‑up.
- Contribute to process improvement and governance activities related to the functions of the department.
- Be presented with opportunities to travel internationally.
Qualifications
- Proven experience or knowledge of the aviation and/or defense industry and knowledge of U.S. government Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARs).
- Ability to combine business acumen with risk mitigation abilities.
- University degree in law or business; MBA is an asset.
- 10‑15 years of experience in a law firm or a large corporation.
- At least 10 years of experience in negotiating commercial transactions and drafting commercial agreements.
- Leadership and autonomous execution.
- Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills.
- Strong drafting skills in English.
- Flexible with extended or irregular working hours and ability to travel on short notice.
- Bilingual in French and English; knowledge of a third language is an asset.
