Senior Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney Jobs in Hagerstown, USA at Zurich North America
Zurich is looking for a Sr. Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join our Staff Legal team and work from their home in Maryland. This Trial Attorney will be responsible for representing the commercial insureds of a prestigious and financially stable commercial insurance carrier, by preparing and trying high‑complexity, high‑exposure Maryland and District of Columbia Workers’ Compensation cases.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with claims professionals providing legal analysis and advice.
- Prepare and file legal pleadings and documents.
- Prepare for and conduct pre‑trial discovery.
- Prepare for and handle final hearings before the workers’ compensation judge.
- Conduct post‑trial activities where appropriate.
Basic Qualifications
- Juris Doctor and 7 or more years of experience in the Workers’ Compensation Litigation area.
- Active member in good standing of the Maryland and District of Columbia Bar Associations.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe.
- Experience working with Lexis or Westlaw.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance defense litigation legal environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Effective communication skills.
- Experience working in a team‑based environment.
- Effective problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Certified Workers Compensation Specialist designation desired.
Compensation and Benefits
Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The proposed salary range is $ – $, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
