Are you a critical thinker with a keen eye for detail? We’re looking for a Senior Review Officer to join our team and play a key role in ensuring fairness and accountability across the Commission. In this role, you will independently review administrative decisions made by various operational areas and business units. You’ll communicate review outcomes clearly and respectfully to affected parties, helping to maintain trust and transparency. Building and sustaining positive working relationships with customers and internal staff is a vital part of the role. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to refine our processes, policies, and procedures, and by providing constructive feedback to the Manager, Internal Review and the broader team. This position is based in Brisbane and flexible arrangements can be considered upon application. This includes working from home options and working remotely at a Regional QBCC office subject to availability. If working from a regional office, travel to the Brisbane office base will be required frequency to be negotiated with successful candidate) to fulfil project service delivery and operational business needs and may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation.

Key Outcomes And Accountabilities

Review a variety of administrative decisions made by officers from different business units within the organisation including decisions relating to defective building work, licensing matters, excluded individual decisions, insurance claims and certification matters.

Manage a case load of review files including conducting fresh investigations, gathering further information or evidence to assist in the review, making the reviewed decision, preparing information notices and communicating review outcomes to parties affected by the review.

Interpret and apply the requirements of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act 1991, Queensland Building and Construction Commission Regulation 2018, Insurance Policy Conditions, Building Act 1975, National Construction Code, Australian Standards and other legislation and policies.

Effectively communicates complex reasons for decisions in written decision notices.

Desirable Requirements

Law Degree or experience in Administrative Review.
