Read this first — the schedule
We want to be completely transparent, because the schedule is the first thing you should decide about.
We are a U.S. firm. Our clients, our courts, and our attorneys run on U.S. Eastern Time. You will not — but you do have to meet us there for four hours of every working day.
Your working day is nine hours, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour break in the early afternoon.** Your local hours shift by one hour twice a year, because the United States changes its clocks and Madagascar does not:
– U.S. summer time (mid-March to early November):11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. in Antananarivo
– U.S. winter time (early November to mid-March): 12:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in Antananarivo
So your day has two halves. The first half is quiet, independent work: research, drafting, file management, everything that needs concentration rather than conversation. The second half is live: calls, meetings, questions answered in real time, work handed over to the U.S. team.

Who we are
Boyer Law Firm, P.L. is a U.S. law firm headquartered in Florida, serving an international clientele in matters of international law, business law, immigration, real estate, civil and business litigation and family law. Our clients and our team span multiple countries, cultures, and languages — French and English are both working languages of the firm, every day.
Who we are NOT looking for
We are not hiring a typist, a transcriber, or a human copy-paste machine. If you are looking for a job where someone hands you a template, tells you exactly what to type, and checks your work at every step, this position will frustrate you and you will frustrate us.
This matters more here than in most roles, for a structural reason: for the first half of your day, nobody from the U.S. team is awake. You cannot work in a rhythm of asking a question and waiting for an answer. You have to be able to move a file forward on your own judgment and bring us the result.
Who we ARE looking for
A real legal professional — a paralegal, jurist, or attorney — who happens to live in Madagascar and wants to build a career in U.S. and international law.
Someone who:
– Thinks critically. When something in a file doesn’t make sense, you notice, and you say so.
– Analyzes before acting. You read the whole document, understand the client’s situation, and identify the legal issue — you don’t just fill in blanks.
– Works independently. You receive an objective, not a script. You figure out the steps, do the research, prepare the draft, and come back with a work product and your reasoning — not a list of questions that the file already answers. You do not wait for instructions from a supervisor at every step of the way.
– Manages the time difference deliberately. You use the quiet half of your day to produce, and the four overlap hours to resolve, confirm, and hand over. You anticipate what you will need from the U.S. team and ask before the window closes — not after.
– Wants to learn U.S. and international law. Your legal training is probably in Malagasy or French civil law. That’s expected — we will train you on U.S. procedure and practice. What we cannot train is curiosity, rigor, and judgment. Those you bring yourself.
– Owns their work. Deadlines in U.S. litigation are unforgiving. You track your own, and things you are responsible for do not fall through the cracks.
Your responsibilities
– Draft, review, and manage legal documents and correspondence in both French and English
– Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda under attorney supervision
– Manage case files from opening to closing: deadlines, court filings, evidence, client documents
– Communicate directly with clients (many of them francophone) by phone, email, and video
– Prepare immigration petitions, corporate filings, contracts, and litigation documents
– Coordinate with courts, government agencies, and opposing counsel in the U.S.
– Translate and adapt legal content between French and English when needed
Requirements
– Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a legal position** (law firm, legal department, notary office, court, or equivalent)
– Degree in law (licence en droit, maîtrise, master, or equivalent legal qualification)
– Complete fluency in French and English — spoken and written.** Not “professional working proficiency.” Fluency. You will draft for U.S. attorneys and speak with U.S. clients in English, and represent the firm to francophone clients in French, every single day. Both languages will be tested during the interview process.
– Ability and commitment to work 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. (U.S. summer) / 12:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. (U.S. winter), Madagascar time, Monday to Friday, long-term
– Reliable high-speed internet and a working solution for power cuts. Load shedding is a reality in Antananarivo, and your overlap window with the U.S. team is only four hours — losing it to an outage is not recoverable the same day. Tell us concretely what your backup is (inverter, generator, mobile data, co-working space).
– A quiet dedicated workspace and a dependable computer setup
– Strong command of standard office software; comfortable learning U.S. legal software (case management, e-filing, billing)
A plus: prior experience with a U.S., Canadian, or European firm or company, knowledge of common law systems, experience in immigration or business law, Spanish as a third language.
