Job Purpose:
The Senior Officer – Shariah Advisory is responsible for administering and providing support in relation to the activities of the company. Tasks include preparing research and studies independently or in cooperation with the Shariah department and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure adherence to Islamic finance principles.
Formal Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Finance, Shariah Studies, Law, or a related field.
Certified Islamic Professional Accountant (CIPA); Certified Shariah Advisor and Auditor (CSAA); Certified Islamic Finance Executive (CIFE)
Fellowship of Sharia Counsel
Work Experience:
Minimum 2 years’ experience
Skills and Knowledge:
Competent knowledge in English and Arabic, Spoken and Written.
In-depth knowledge of Shariah laws and regulations.
Excellent communication skills to convey complex Shariah concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for Shariah compliance audits and reviews.
Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external Shariah experts.
Flexibility to adapt to changes in regulatory requirements and evolving Islamic finance standards.
Proactive approach to addressing Shariah compliance challenges and finding effective solutions.
Good Knowledge of fiqh and contemporary issues.
Good Knowledge of capital market.
Good research skills.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Shariah-compliant Advisory Support
Assist in all Shariah-compliant advisory tasks.
Ensure that Shariah-compliant funds are administered in accordance with Shariah principles.
Provides research and information for the meetings of the Shariah Committee.
Provide expertise and guidance on Shariah compliance matters related to financial products, transactions, and business operations.
Review contracts and agreements in terms of Shariah compliance.
Review new financial products and services to ensure they comply with Shariah principles.
Provide recommendations for modifications to align with Islamic finance requirements.
Consult with Shariah boards or scholars in cases of ambiguity or uncertainty related to investments, instruments, systems, procedures, and processes.
Act with due care, skill, and diligence in carrying out duties and responsibilities.
Conduct training sessions for employees to raise awareness of Shariah compliance requirements.
Provide ongoing support and education on Islamic finance principles.
2.Research and studies tools
Conduct research on Islamic finance principles and Shariah-compliant financial products.
Gather data from various sources to prepare reports and recommendations that support Shariah committee decisions.
Collaborate with internal departments to integrate research insights into business processes effectively.
3.Shariah Compliance Policy Development Support
Contribute to the development and enhancement of Shariah compliance policies and procedures.
Ensure that internal policies align with regulatory requirements and Shariah principles.
Actively participate in seamless implementation of Shariah Compliance policies.
Stakeholders Relations
Collaborate with internal departments, including finance, legal, and risk management, to integrate Shariah compliance into business processes.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of Shariah compliance requirements.
Engage with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to stay informed of industry changes.
