We are pleased to offer an opportunity for a seasoned professional to join our Legal and Secretarial Division.
About the Role
Responsible for contributing to the growth of Velesto Energy Berhad businesses by establishing and developing an effective legal framework. This role involves utilizing internal and external legal resources, providing legal advice on new business strategies and ventures to promote and safeguard the company’s interests in line with its vision.
Responsibilities
Advice Velesto Energy Berhad management teams regarding the management of legal and commercial risks associated with new investment opportunities, provide advice on the structuring of transactions, compliance and corporate governance issues, management of local and regional legal issues, and recommend and manage retention of outside counsel.
Strategize, direct, control, analyze and review legal framework that is aligned to the Company’s business activities and safeguarding Velesto Energy Berhad interests.
Review, vet and provide legal advice on matters relating to contractual procurement and subcontract documents (e.g. tenders and bids, charter, sales and purchase agreements, sponsorship and bonds and agreements) for management and Business Units to ensure that any legal and binding contract(s) to be entered by Velesto Energy Berhad will have minimum and acceptable level(s) of legal and commercial risks.
Provide legal advice for Velesto Energy Berhad management on all contract-related meetings, discussions, correspondences and negotiations protecting the company interests at all times.
Collaborate with external appointed legal firms / penal lawyers that provide legal documentation, verification, registration, advisory and litigation services to ensure that Velesto Energy Berhad requirements are translated / embedded into a proper legal framework.
Qualifications
Educational Background: Degree in Law or equivalent.
Required Skills
Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills with strong persuasive and convincing capabilities.
Able to stay abreast of current legal issues and to consult experts to expand knowledge base.
Strong command in English Language (both written and oral).
Resourceful, independent and able to work with limited resource.
Experience
Minimum 15 years of experience in corporate and oil and gas contracts.
Involvement in drafting procurement, equipment rental and subcontract documents would be an added advantage.
