MECOSTA COUNTY PROBATE AND FAMILY FILE CLERK
Position available to start May 20, 2025. Flexible business hours schedule. Up to 20 hours per week.
General Summary:
Under the supervision of the Court Administrator and Probate Register, and the direction of the Juvenile Register/Deputy Probate Register, responsible for filing and maintaining the court records of the Probate Court and Family Court. Responsible for responding to the general public and legal community regarding the filing of documents with the Probate and Family Court.
Essential Functions:
1. Assists with clerical support tasks in the Probate and Family Court, including answering the telephone or window.
2. Collects, opens, sorts, and distributes mail.
3. Assists in reviewing files and ensures their readiness for courtroom action.
4. Assists in maintaining all records and files of the Probate and Family Court, including court legal and social or confidential files.
5. Prepares files and forms as needed to get permission from the State to destroy records.
6. Preforms a variety of related office support functions as needed.
7. Preforms various duties and tasks as assigned by the Court Administrator, Probate Register, or Judge – not otherwise noted above.
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the above tasks. (These examples do not include all of the tasks which the employees may be expected to perform.)
Employment Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Prefer experience working in an office setting with familiarity working with and maintaining files and clerical tasks.

COMPENSATION: Part time, up to 20 hours per week. $13.23 per hour.
