Associate or Senior Attorney
Kastner Westman & Wilkins, LLC is a boutique law firm in Fairlawn, OH, 15 minutes from downtown Akron and 25 minutes from downtown Cleveland. K|W|W currently has eighteen attorneys and represents Employers in all aspects of labor and employment law.
Due to continued increased client demand for K|W|W’s services, we have an immediate need to hire one or two additional ambitious attorneys, ideally with 4-10 years of experience. The ideal candidate has experience managing and working litigation files, whether employment litigation or otherwise.
A successful candidate will be highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented. A demonstrated ability to handle matters with a high degree of independence is a plus. New hires will have direct client exposure and regularly engage with opposing counsel, labor unions, state and federal agencies (the EEOC, NLRB, SERB, etc.) and/or court personnel. The ability to communicate effectively with all constituencies, to exercise sound judgment, and to maintain a high level of client service is required.
Overview of what we do at K|W|W:
– Represent Employers in mediation, arbitration, grievance proceedings, collective bargaining, and in litigation before state and federal courts or local, state and federal administrative agencies.
– Consult daily with clients on compliance with local, state, and federal laws, as well as HR matters and strategy.
– Negotiate and draft collective bargaining agreements, employment agreements, non-solicitation and non-compete agreements, and settlement and separation agreements.
-Research and draft legal advice memoranda.
– Draft client alerts on changes in the law and best practices.
– Conduct in-person client training and webinars on labor and employment law topics.
– Review, update and draft policies and employee handbooks.
– Represent Employers in labor law compliance under both the National Labor Relations Act and Ohio’s public sector bargaining law.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
– Ability to timely communicate in a clear and concise manner.
– Excellent research/writing skills and attention to detail.
– Must be able to meet deadlines, prioritize and manage time.
– Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other attorneys in the firm.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Westlaw and Bloomberg.
– Ohio State Bar admission required.
