Position Description
The Senior Legal Officer (Escrow Service) is responsible for providingexpert legal guidance on escrow-related transactions, ensuring compliance withrelevant laws and regulations, drafting and reviewing escrow agreements, andmitigating legal risks associated with escrow service. The role requires adeep understanding of contract law, financial transactions, and regulatoryframeworks governing escrow operations.
DUTY & RESPONSIBILITY
Strong expertise in corporate law andcontract law.
Abilityto work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Draft, review, and negotiate escrowagreements, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Manage legal risks and disputesrelated to escrow transactions.
Keep up-to-date with changes infinancial, banking, and escrow-related laws.
Draft, review, negotiate, and managecontracts, agreements, and legal documents.
Liaising with external legal counseland regulatory authorities.
Conducting legal research andensuring compliance with applicable laws.
Monitor and interpret changes inlegal and regulatory frameworks that impact the bank.
Ensure contractual terms align with the bank’s interests and mitigatepotential risks.
Support the business development teamin structuring escrow solutions for clients.
Maintain accurate and up-to-datelegal documentation related to escrow transactions.
Assist in preparing reports for TrustRegulators.
Stay updated on any recent changes inreporting obligations.
Collect financial statements, trusttransactions, and escrow account details.
Verify compliance with Anti-MoneyLaundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.
File the report as per regulatorydeadlines and format requirements.
Keep copies for internalrecord-keeping and future reference.
Address any follow-up inquiries from regulatorspromptly.
QUALIFICATION
Bachelor’sdegree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution; a Master’s degree (LLM) isan advantage.
Minimum 3years of legal experience, preferably in a corporate or commercial setting.
