Reporting Line 

Reports to the Head of Legal and Asset (based in Singapore), supporting the group’s Legal function globally. 

About the Role 

We are an international hospitality group seeking a Senior Legal Executive to join our in-house team, based in Bangkok. 

The group operates across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and the United Kingdom, and English is the working language throughout. The successful candidate will work remotely with colleagues, counterparties and external counsel across these jurisdictions. 

The role combines substantive legal work with responsibility for how the legal function runs. 

This is a hands-on role suited to a commercially minded legal professional who can take matters from instruction through to completion, work across jurisdictions, and exercise judgement on when to escalate. 

Key Responsibilities 

Commercial and Contractual 

  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements with local and international counterparties across the group’s operations 
  • Advise internal business teams on routine commercial and contractual matters, escalating substantive issues as appropriate 
  • Prepare correspondence including letters of demand, and manage recovery and outstanding matters through to resolution 
  • Support dispute resolution in coordination with external counsel 

Transactions and Due Diligence 

  • Support hotel management, property and corporate transactions through due diligence and completion 
  • Maintain document checklists and indexes, track outstanding items, and prepare document requests to counterparties 
  • Manage execution and completion, coordinating signing and maintaining the register of executed originals 

Registers and Records 

  • Maintain the contract register and critical dates diary, and give advance notice of upcoming deadlines 
  • Support corporate secretarial matters, working with the external company secretary 
  • Maintain document filing systems and shared folders in an organised and consistently indexed manner 

Legal Operations and Matter Administration 

  • Administer external counsel and service provider engagements, including engagement terms, fee tracking and invoice review 
  • Maintain matter management, legal reporting and internal approvals 
  • Maintain and improve legal templates, checklists, precedents and internal processes 
  • Conduct legal and factual research as required 
  • Provide occasional general administrative assistance to the Legal and Asset functions where circumstances require 

Requirements 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, or equivalent experience in a paralegal or legal support role involving contract drafting and review 

Experience 

  • 4–6 years’ experience in a law firm or in-house legal team 
  • Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements 
  • Experience supporting completion processes on M&A, corporate or conveyancing transactions 
  • Experience working with English-language international commercial agreements and familiarity with their drafting conventions 
  • Experience working with regional or foreign stakeholders is preferred 

Language and Skills 

  • Strong written and spoken English is essential, including the ability to read and work with English-language legal documents and to draft clear correspondence to counterparties and external counsel 
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PDF tools at the standard expected in a law firm 
  • Comfortable working as part of a remote team, communicating proactively in writing and keeping colleagues updated without prompting 
  • Good organisational and time management skills 
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
