About the Company
Our client is a leading energy company with a significant presence across Asia. They are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to lead their regional legal team in Singapore, supporting investments, project development, corporate transactions, compliance and governance matters across key Asian markets. This is a one-year contract position with the opportunity for conversion to a permanent role.
Responsibilities
You will be leading the legal team across APAC and work closely with the General Counsel in HQ and senior business leaders to provide strategic legal and compliance support across the region. You will advise on project developments, M&A, joint ventures, strategic investments, financing and other cross-border transactions, including drafting and negotiating complex project, commercial and transaction agreements. You will also manage disputes and external counsel, advise on regulatory and compliance risks, oversee governance and corporate secretarial matters, and support investigations and compliance initiatives. As a senior member of the team, you will lead and develop team members while driving improvements across legal processes and risk management.
Requirements
You should be qualified in Singapore and/or another common law jurisdiction with at least 12 years of experience, preferably gained with a recognised law firm. Candidates looking to make their first move in-house will be considered, while prior in-house experience is advantageous. Candidates with prior working experience in the renewable energy / infrastructure sector is preferred. You should have strong knowledge of Singapore law, exposure to transactions across Asia, and the ability to advise senior stakeholders on complex legal and commercial matters.
