Senior Legal Counsel position working for a leading global insurer offering a broad and needs-based range of insurance solutions to the Australian market.
Reporting into the Head of Legal this role will take the lead and provide a day-to-day presence within the Sydney operations alongside the Legal Counsel. You will be responsible for legal advice, drafting and negotiating contracts and undertaking insurance policy reviews, assist with policy coverage, claims advice and regulatory oversight. You will also manage any litigation matters including instructing external Counsel. The predominant focus is on Australia and NZ with some multi-jurisdictional support for the Asia pacific region.
The ideal candidate will be at least 7 years + PQE level coming from either a law firm or inhouse environment with a strong general insurance background and demonstrable experience in general insurance contracts/regulation, policy wordings drafting/coverage counsel or claims. You must have a commercial mindset, value autonomy and be able to work both independently as well as collaboratively.
