Overview
Enemix have partnered with a Global IPP with Large Renewable Energy Asset in Australia. We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially astute Senior Legal Counsel to join their dynamic Renewables Legal Team. This is a full-time, fixed-term position, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development, financing, procurement, construction, and operation of renewable energy projects across Australia.
As a key legal advisor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting high-profile and complex renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems. This position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, international environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive the energy transition and contribute to a sustainable future.
Responsibilities
- Procurement and Construction Contracting: Draft and negotiate contracts, including EPC, balance-of-plant, turbine supply, and other OEM supply agreements. Provide advice on procurement strategies and tender processes
- Financing: Assist with equity and debt financing, including project financing and partnering activities. Support lender due diligence processes and ensure alignment of project contracts with financing assumptions.
- Grid Connection and Regulatory Matters: Advise on grid connection agreements, regulatory issues, and related obligations in construction, procurement, and financing documents.
- Claims Management: Handle claims against contractors and suppliers, manage dispute resolution processes, and coordinate external counsel for litigated or arbitrated disput
- General Legal Support: Provide advice on procurement, health and safety, intellectual property, and regulatory matters. Support legal team initiatives, including process improvement and knowledge management.
Day-to-Day
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, technical, and project management, to provide legal advice on procurement strategies and contract negotiations.
- Support the construction and operational teams in managing contracts, addressing claims, and resolving disputes.
- Work closely with external counsel and stakeholders to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide timely and practical legal advice to facilitate the successful execution of renewable energy projects.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal processes, precedents, and knowledge management within the team.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years’ post-admission experience.
- Australian legal qualifications and admission to practice in an Australian state or territory (or eligibility to obtain admission)
- Expertise in front-end construction, procurement, and major project contracting, as well as back-end construction contracting, including claims management and dispute resolution.
- Experience with project and/or equity financing, particularly in the renewables, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong organisational, analytical, and commercial skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in another European language is advantageous.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach with the ability to work effectively in an international team.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
