CLIENT

Linum Consult’s client is a major international company that works within the energy sector. They are currently seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to be based in their Doha office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensuring the activities of the company are conducted lawfully and in compliance with all relevant contracts, procedures, and regulations

Supervising and presenting advice on legal issues related to the rights, obligations, privileges, and cases with regards to the company’s business operations

Contributing to the return and cash flow of the company through the provision of legal support in the development of contracts related to new projects

Drafting, reviewing, and finalising correspondence and contracts between the company and business partners, contractors, and clients, with a view to ensure compliance with legal requirements

Staying observant of the constitution, statutes, laws, rulings, and regulations in the state of Qatar and international markets. Following legal updates to determine any legal implications for the company

Checking and reviewing contracts/agreements with the Head of Business Development or Regional Managers, to ensure that the contract covers all terms that the Business Development team might have discussed with the other party

Ensuring that all documentary requirements have been adhered to before signing contracts/agreements with the various parties

Liaising with relevant professional advisers (e.g., external lawyers) to obtain external advice where appropriate

Liaising with the Head of Business Development to provide legal advice with regards to business development opportunities through exploring new ventures such as mergers and acquisitions, investment and procurement activities locally and internationally

Representing the company in all dispute/litigation cases with external parties in front of the judicial authorities

PROFILE

University degree qualification in Law, specialising in Corporate Law, from a recognised law school, ideally with Professional Certification

At least 12 years of Legal Counsel experience, ideally with 5 years within the energy industry

Understanding of Business-to-Business contracts

Ability to highlight the risks and binding clauses in a contract

Fluent in English with very strong verbal and written communication skills
