The Company

Globe 24-7, in partnership with a leading mining company, is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join their team.

The Responsibilities

Commercial Contracts & Legal Advisory

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including mining services, procurement, exploration, employment, and joint venture agreements.
  • Ensure contractual arrangements comply with applicable local legislation, OHADA regulations, and company policies.
  • Provide legal advice to operational and corporate teams on contractual obligations and legal risks.
  • Support business stakeholders with contract interpretation and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Identify, assess, and manage legal and commercial risks across the business.

Government Affairs & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Draft and review legal documents, correspondence, and position papers relating to government and regulatory matters.
  • Represent the company in engagements with government authorities, regulators, and industry bodies.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key government stakeholders and legal professionals across the region.
  • Support public policy initiatives and advocacy efforts aligned with business objectives.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and documentation of government-related legal matters.

Dispute Resolution & Litigation

  • Manage litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution matters involving the company.
  • Coordinate and oversee external legal counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Develop dispute resolution strategies that align with business objectives and minimize legal exposure.
  • Monitor legal proceedings and provide regular updates to senior management.

Corporate Governance

  • Ensure compliance with OHADA Uniform Acts and local corporate law requirements.
  • Manage corporate filings, board resolutions, statutory records, and company secretarial responsibilities.
  • Advise management on shareholder matters, directors’ duties, and corporate structure issues.
  • Promote strong governance practices across regional operations.

Regulatory & Mining Compliance

  • Provide legal advice relating to mining legislation, environmental regulations, licensing, and permitting requirements across West Africa.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting mining operations.
  • Manage legal aspects of regulatory engagements and compliance obligations.
  • Ensure the business remains informed of evolving legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Support compliance with mining codes, environmental obligations, and industry standards.

Reporting & Governance

  • Provide legal risk assessments and strategic advice to senior leadership.
  • Prepare reports on litigation, regulatory developments, compliance matters, and key legal risks.
  • Support executive management in decision-making relating to legal and regulatory matters.
  • Maintain accurate legal records and ensure reporting integrity across the business.

The Requirements

Qualifications

  • Qualifying Law Degree from a relevant jurisdiction within an OHADA member state.
  • Master's Degree in Law (LL.M or equivalent) is nice to have.
  • Admission to the Malian Bar or equivalent legal accreditation.
  • Specialization in Public Law or Administrative Law will be advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum 7–10 years' post-qualification legal experience within the mining, resources, or natural resources sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of OHADA law, corporate law, commercial law, and mining regulations across West Africa.
  • Proven experience managing commercial contracts, negotiations, and dispute resolution matters.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and government engagement processes.
  • Experience working within complex political and regulatory environments.
  • Fluency in both French and English is essential.
