Description
Assist in all day-to-day legal matters;
Negotiating and drafting commercial contracts, managing litigation and potential disputes;
Develop customer policies on industry-specific issues, corporate governance or regulatory affairs;
Clarify legal language and set up legal training programs;
Communicate and negotiate with external parties (external counsel, regulators, Ombudsfin, etc.), build relationships of trust or support the customer in such requests;
Draft and amend contracts, procedures and other legal documents;
Create and manage a solid legal contractual database;
Optimize legal processes to eliminate inefficiencies;
Keep up to date on all new laws/regulations;
Regularly analyze customer actions and decisions, identify problem areas, propose alternatives and mitigating actions;
Assist in transactional work and supervise external counsel where necessary (Mergers & Acquisitions, Structured Finance, and Capital Markets).
Your profile
Master’s degree in Belgian law;
Fluency in written and spoken French or Dutch;
Fluent in English, written and spoken;
5-7 years’ experience;
General legal background;
Experience in Belgian IT contracts and/or banking law and/or litigation and/or tax law and/or general commercial law is an asset;
Ability to work independently, efficiently, practically and proactively;
Excellent analytical, communication, diplomatic, research and writing skills.
