About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to serve as the primary legal advisor for our operations in the Philippines. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong legal and business mindset, capable of handling regulatory, compliance, and commercial matters with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have a deepunderstanding of Philippine fintech regulations, data privacy laws, and experience working with regulators like CIC , NPC, and SEC.
Key Responsibilities
– Regulatory & Compliance: Ensure compliance with Philippine financial and data privacy regulations; liaise with regulatory bodies as needed.
– Corporate & Commercial Law: Draft, review, and negotiate service agreements, M&A documents, and other commercial contracts.
– Data Privacy & Security: Support DPO-related legal matters, ensuring compliance with National Privacy Commission (NPC) requirements.
– Business Advisory: Provide practical and strategic legal advice, helping teams balance risk and business objectives.
– Collaboration: Work closely with regional teams (Singapore, global legal team, compliance, and PH bureau teams).
– Product & Tech Law: Advise on legal aspects of AI-driven products and fintech services.
Qualifications & Requirements
– Philippines Bar-admitted lawyer(4 years of law school + 1-year bar)
– 8 to 12+ years of PQE (mix of in-house and private practice)
– Strong experience in M&A, TMT (Tech, Media, Telecom), and Financial Services
– Hands-on knowledge of Philippine fintech and credit bureau regulations
– Experience in data privacy law and regulatory compliance
– Background in fintech, banking is preferred.
– Strong entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work as a sole legal counsel for PH jurisdiction
– Fast learner with self-motivation, curiosity, and pragmatic thinking
– Excellent communication skills in English
