As the Senior Legal Advisor, you will serve as a trusted legal partner to executive leadership, supporting high-value commercial transactions from opportunity assessment and bid stage through to contract negotiation, implementation, and ongoing delivery. This role offers exposure to both private and public sector engagements within a dynamic, technology-driven environment.
POSITION INFO:
What You'll Be Doing As a key member of the legal team, you will: Partner with business leaders to provide commercially focused legal advice that enables strategic decision-making. Support the full commercial deal lifecycle, from bid evaluation and opportunity assessment through to contract execution and delivery. Draft, review, negotiate and finalise complex commercial agreements, including customer contracts, Master Service Agreements, supplier agreements, subcontractor agreements, consortium and joint venture agreements. Advise on public sector tenders, Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and procurement processes. Identify legal and commercial risks early and develop practical mitigation strategies that support business objectives. Guide business stakeholders through contract interpretation, dispute resolution, claims management, and settlement negotiations. Manage relationships with external legal counsel while ensuring cost-effective legal outcomes. Provide strategic input into high-value commercial transactions and contribute to go/no-go decision-making processes. Ensure compliance with internal governance frameworks, Delegation of Authority requirements, and company policies. Advise on corporate and commercial law, regulatory compliance, data privacy, governance, and risk management. Support governance committees by providing clear, practical legal recommendations. Drive continuous improvement by developing legal templates, standard contracting positions, and delivering legal training to business teams. Build strong relationships across executive leadership, finance, procurement, commercial teams, and external stakeholders. Qualifications LLB Degree. Admitted Attorney (essential). Experience Minimum 5 years' post-admission experience in a corporate or commercial legal environment. Strong background in commercial and corporate law. Extensive experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements. Exposure to technology, ICT, telecommunications, or other regulated industries will be highly advantageous. Sound knowledge of the South African legal and regulatory environment, including corporate governance and compliance. Experience advising on public sector procurement frameworks will be advantageous.
