Lead High-Profile Litigation Matters with a Leading National Law Firm
A leading law firm with offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban is seeking an experienced Senior Dispute Resolution / Litigation Attorney to join its Durban office.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a commercially astute litigation attorney with 7+ years’ post-qualification experience to lead complex litigation and dispute resolution matters across both the public and private sectors. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, confident leader, and trusted advisor capable of managing sophisticated disputes independently while mentoring junior professionals.
An existing client base will be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage complex commercial litigation matters from inception through to conclusion
- Represent clients in High Court litigation and alternative dispute resolution proceedings
- Advise on:
- Commercial litigation
- Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
- Administrative law
- Insolvency and Business Rescue
- Tax litigation
- General civil litigation
- Conduct legal investigations and prepare detailed legal reports
- Provide strategic legal advice to public and private sector clients
- Analyse legal risk and deliver commercially focused legal solutions
- Manage client relationships and provide exceptional client service
- Mentor and develop junior legal professionals
- Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams while managing matters independently
Minimum Requirements
- LLB Degree
- Admitted Attorney with a valid practising certificate
- Right of Appearance in the High Court
- Minimum 7+ years’ post-qualification experience
- Extensive commercial litigation experience
- Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) experience
- Administrative Law experience
- Insolvency & Business Rescue experience
- Tax Litigation experience
- General Civil Litigation experience
- Experience acting for both public and private sector clients
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills
- Ability to analyse complex legal issues and provide commercial solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
- Entrepreneurial, self-motivated and able to work independently
- Able to manage multiple priorities and perform under pressure
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours when required
Remuneration
- The salary offered is market-related and will be based on the successful candidate’s experience, expertise, and the value they can bring to the firm.
