You’ll work closely with colleagues and clients, tackling real-world projects for local government including:
- financial modelling
- long term financial planning
- financial sustainability assessments
- business case analysis and options assessments
- development of revenue and pricing models
- development of financial policies and strategies
- taking complex financial information and communicating it in plain English
Our projects are team-based, varied in duration, and may involve working in-house with clients, from our offices, or remotely.
You’ll be expected to apply common sense and practical judgement, solve challenges in real time, and deliver solutions that create efficiency and add value. You’ll help clients navigate complex decisions, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
About you / Ko wai koe
As part of our team, you will demonstrate initiative and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. With a strong history of delivery, you will have a proven ability to think critically and strategically, solving problems in real time and developing solutions that create efficiency, deliver insights, and add value to client’s business initiatives.
Ideally, you understand the challenges of local government, including multi-faceted and conflicting goals, and know what it takes to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, to the highest quality standards.
You have a proven track record of building strong working relationships, engaging with stakeholders, and networking effectively.
Most importantly you enjoy thinking outside the box, are a good at listener and communicator, and have a strong client service focus, priding yourself on creating workable, implementable solutions.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have a relevant degree and approximately 5+ years’ experience
- Have experience working within the public sector and/or a consultancy environment
- Experience with business cases, section 17A’s or sourcing of funding would be beneficial.
- Have strong financial modelling skills
- Be able to look beyond the numbers to provide pragmatic solutions and practical advice to our clients
- Be comfortable self-managing your work, juggling competing demands and deadlines, and prioritising work efficiently
- Be a keen learner, wanting to develop new skills and grow your career
- Have experience delivering accurate and engaging written and visual content that is tailored to the audience.
- Have confidence in presenting your ideas and work to clients and broader audiences and building strong professional relationships
- Have flexibility to travel.
