About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented legal professional to join our Labour & Employment practice at a Senior Associate / Manager level. The role involves advising clients on a wide range of labour law matters, compliance frameworks, employment structuring, and regulatory advisory.

We prefer candidates with prior experience in a Tier 1 or Tier 2 law firm in India, who bring strong technical expertise and client-handling capabilities in labour and employment advisory.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Advisory & Compliance

• Advise clients on statutory compliance under Indian labour laws, including but not limited to:

a)Industrial Relations Code, Code on Wages, Social Security Code, OSHWC Code

b)Shops & Establishments Acts, PF, ESI, Gratuity, Bonus, CLRA, etc.

•Conduct compliance reviews, labour law audits, and due diligence exercises

•Assist clients in designing and implementing labour compliance frameworks and policies

•Support clients on onboarding and exit strategies for senior leadership, including hiring structuring, regulatory considerations, and risk mitigation

•Handle sensitive assignments relating to resignation, termination, and separation of senior-level employees, including advisory on legal risk, negotiation strategy, and documentation

•Advise on employment of expatriate directors, senior executives, and foreign personnel deputed to India, including structuring, regulatory compliance, and documentation requirements.

2.Transactional & Structuring Support

•Support M&A transactions with labour law due diligence and risk assessment

•Advise on employee transition, restructuring, and workforce rationalization

•Draft employment contracts, HR policies, codes of conduct, and separation documentation.

3.Litigation & Dispute Management

•Assist in handling labour disputes, industrial disputes, and regulatory proceedings

•Coordinate with external counsels and support litigation strategy

•Prepare legal opinions, written submissions, and briefing notes

4.Client Management & Practice Development

•Manage client relationships and deliver high-quality advisory services

•Work closely with senior leadership and our multi-disciplinary tax and financial/ BPO teams on engagements

•Contribute to knowledge development, thought leadership, and internal training initiatives.

Eligibility & Qualifications

•LL.B. / LL.M. from a reputed institution

•3–6 years of relevant experience in Labour & Employment law

•Prior experience with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 law firm in India (strongly preferred)

•Enrolment with the Bar Council of India

•Practice Area: Labour & Employment / Industrial Relations.

Key Skills & Competencies

•Strong understanding of Indian labour laws and evolving regulatory landscape

•Experience in handling senior employee lifecycle issues (hiring, restructuring, exits)

•Familiarity with cross-border employment / expatriate arrangements

•Excellent drafting, analytical, and research skills

•Practical approach to problem-solving with business-oriented mindset

•Strong communication and client-handling capabilities

•Ability to manage multiple assignments and work in a fast-paced environment

•High level of professionalism and attention to detail
