Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Compliance Officer, based in Lagos. As a licensed operator in a regulated industry, compliance is foundational to everything we do. The Compliance Officer will own our regulatory, AML, KYC, and responsible-gaming obligations ensuring the platform meets the requirements of our gaming licence and applicable Nigerian law. You’ll build and maintain our compliance framework, work closely with regulators, and partner with product, payments, and engineering to embed compliance into how the platform operates. This is a role for someone rigorous, detail-oriented, and comfortable being the guardian of trust at a fast-growing startup.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and maintain the company’s compliance framework, policies, and procedures across licensing, AML/CFT, KYC, and responsible gaming
  • Ensure the platform operates in line with its gaming licence and all applicable Nigerian regulations
  • Serve as primary point of contact with regulators and licensing authorities, managing filings, reporting, and correspondence
  • Design and oversee KYC/AML controls, working with vendors (e.g. Smile ID, Seon) and the engineering team
  • Monitor transactions and player activity for suspicious behaviour, and manage reporting obligations
  • Build and run the responsible-gaming programme — self-exclusion, deposit limits, age verification, and player protection
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments and maintain the risk register
  • Deliver compliance training and embed a culture of compliance across the company
  • Keep abreast of regulatory change and advise leadership on its impact
  • Manage complaints handling and dispute-resolution processes in line with regulatory requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years in compliance, legal, or risk, ideally within gaming, fintech, payments, or another regulated industry
  • Strong working knowledge of AML/CFT, KYC, and responsible-gaming requirements
  • Familiarity with Nigerian regulatory frameworks and gaming/lottery licensing
  • Experience designing and implementing compliance policies, controls, and processes
  • Detail-oriented, rigorous, and comfortable making and defending judgement calls
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with regulators and across internal teams
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g. ICA, CAMS, or legal qualification) is an advantage

Nice to Have

  • Direct experience in sports betting / iGaming compliance
  • Experience working with KYC/AML and fraud vendors and tooling
  • Exposure to multi-jurisdictional or West African regulatory environments
  • Understanding of payments compliance and transaction monitoring at scale
