About the Role
As a Senior Compliance Officer, you will support the Compliance Team Leader in ensuring that the Bank complies with all applicable laws, regulations and internal policies. The role will be primarily dedicated to the Bank’s depositary banking activities (AIF) and related regulatory compliance matters. In this context, you will contribute to the oversight and monitoring of the Bank’s depositary services framework, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal governance standards. You will also support the Compliance function on broader AML and Regulatory Compliance matters, including client onboarding and monitoring activities, regulatory controls, and the continuous enhancement of the Bank’s compliance framework and culture.
Responsibilities
Depositary Bank (AIF) Regulatory Compliance
- Act as the key Compliance contacts for the Bank’s depositary banking activities
- Monitor and assess regulatory developments impacting depositary services and investor protection frameworks
- Contribute to the definition, implementation and execution of the Compliance control and monitoring plan relating to depositary banking activities
- Perform and document compliance controls relating to depositary services and ensure appropriate follow-up of identified findings and action plans
- Provide regulatory compliance advice and support to business stakeholders involved in depositary banking activities
- Contribute to the drafting, review and maintenance of policies, procedures and operational guidelines relating to depositary banking activities
- Support interactions with regulators, auditors and internal control functions on depositary-related compliance matters
- Identify, assess and escalate regulatory compliance risks relating to the Bank’s depositary activities
Other responsibilities
- Support and strengthen the Bank’s AML and financial crime compliance framework
- Handle AML reviews of client accounts and support client onboarding and ongoing monitoring activities
- Contribute to the review, enhancement and implementation of AML-related policies, procedures and operational guidelines
- Assist in the preparation of internal/external reporting, Suspicious Activity / Transaction Reports, and AML-related training initiatives
- Support the execution of the Bank’s Regulatory Compliance framework across various topics (e.g. MiFID, Cross-Border, Digital Bank, etc.)
- Execute compliance controls, analyse cross-border constraints and review credit applications from a regulatory perspective
- Work closely with business functions by providing regulatory guidance and ensuring appropriate follow-up on compliance matters within the areas under your responsibility
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in law, finance, business administration or a related field and/or at least 5-7 years of experience in a compliance role, ideally in a banking or financial services environment, with exposure to depositary bank activities and/or AIFMD (Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive) regulatory framework
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of AIFMD (EU Directive 2011/61/EU) and related depositary duties (including asset safekeeping, oversight duties, cash monitoring and delegation arrangements) would be a strong advantage
- Excellent communication
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive “can-do” attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and advice to management and staff
- Thorough understanding of relevant laws and regulations, in particular AIFMD, UCITS
- Fluent in written and spoken French, English. Proficiency in other languages as Italian is an asset.
Pay range and compensation package
Fixed salary starting at 80k, depending on the candidate’s level of seniority. Eligibility for a variable component of compensation as governed by the Bank’s Compensation Policies.
