GENERAL SUMMARY
The purpose of this job is to provide support to Friend of the Court Enforcement Officers and Circuit Court Attorney Referees by drafting and processing motions, orders, and bench warrants while managing the court schedule. Responsibilities include opening new domestic files from the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, coordinating and monitoring case progression to meet statutory requirements, maintaining court records and database accuracy, optimizing Referee time, and ensuring timely case scheduling. Additionally, the role involves preparing and reviewing domestic orders for completeness and enforceability before submission to the Referee and Judge for signature.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares and schedules for hearing, motion, and order; enters the order into the court database and disseminates to appropriate departments and parties.
Assists Friend of the Court Referees in hearings; ensures the proceedings are recorded and notes are taken.
Prepares motion and order for bench warrant/commitment order at the direction of the Enforcement Officer; enters bench warrant/commitment order into court database.
Prepares interview paperwork for Enforcement Officers and processes resulting paperwork.
Reviews Friend of the Court report of discrepancies reported from Social Security Administration of client names and social security numbers; approves or discards proposed changes.
Opens new domestic files submitted by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office; creates cases in the court database and issues paperwork to be served to the parties.
Determines payer’s source of income and prepares notices of Income Withholding Orders to be served reviews proposed domestic relations orders submitted by Attorneys and self-represented litigants; determines if proposed orders meet guidelines set by state law; coordinates approval with the Assistant Prosecuting Attorney.
Perform related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
At least two years of relevant college-level course work or an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, business administration, or a related field
3 to 5 years of related work experience, such as prior court experience and knowledge of court procedures, legal experience, and legal terminology.
Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
