Senior Associate General Counsel – Staff Attorney 3 Jobs in Minnesota at State of Minnesota

TL;DR: we all get along, we strive to serve our clients as well as we can, we work hard, we make good money, and we have lives outside of the office. If this is what you are looking for, please read on. If not, please move to the next job posting.

The Position:

We have an opening for a fantastic new member of our team. You will be one of the first points of contact for our company, and one of our faces and voices to the world. Your duties will include answering phones, scheduling meetings, offering administrative support across the organization ranging from scanning of documents to helping prepare pleadings and assembling medical records. You will have the opportunity to welcome guests and greet people who visit the business. You will also help coordinate front-desk activities, including distributing correspondence and redirecting phone calls.

We want someone that is real, someone that knows how to use a computer (we use microsoft office and advantagelaw); understands the needs of both a claims and litigation file; and that wants to grow themselves professionally. The ideal candidate will have several years in a law office setting where they regularly dealt with personal injury law, both in claims and litigation.

Because we are a small firm, everyone pitches in to help with whatever is asked of them to ensure our client’s expectations are met. Our attorneys and staff are always improving their knowledge and skill set and your willingness to grow your knowledge and skill set are important to us. Some of the best and most productive times we have are collegially talking through cases as a group. If you are offended by pitching in, whether it is taking out the garbage, making a copy, or picking up the phone, please don’t apply.

We offer a flexible schedule as we recognize that we all have lives outside of work. We strive to live our lives to their fullest extent, and see our work as part of that.

Our Story:

In 2010, Christopher Ault decided to leave the Insurance Defense world and follow his passions as a way to help clients better and without the levels of bureaucracy found at bigger law firms. In the firms he had worked he was always up for figuring out everyone’s out of the ordinary cases and that continued, with the thought to become more fully involved in Criminal Defense and Family Law. That is what happened, and has continued to happen; we regularly get calls from other lawyers on cases they need help with.

The firm started in a 10 x 10 office in the industrial district in the central Salt Lake Valley and quickly grew into a downtown office. In 2014 the firm moved to from Downtown Salt Lake City to an office in West Jordan. The firm had always done Personal Injury, Family Law and Criminal Defense work, and the move saw a significant uptick in the criminal defense and family law cases. In 2022 the firm moved its center of operations to East Sandy in a larger nicer office and again we are watching as our clients are gradually changing.

We have been fortunate to always have more than enough work through our relationships in the community and our marketing efforts. We have benefitted from a significant increase in our Personal Injury practice over the last year and have watched as our other practice areas have continued to grow.

Through the years there have been both positive and negative growth. There have been many people that have come back or asked to have their old position after it has been filled. We are not a regular law firm. Some of us wear shorts and flip flops all summer. We are not easily offended, and pride ourselves on our diversity and inclusion in a region where those things are often overlooked. If you are easily offended, this probably isn’t the best place for you. If your preference is to sit in your office with the door closed, you won’t fit in.

Other Things:

There are firms advertising for positions and assigning values to their compensation package that are somewhat arbitrary. I would hope that if you apply for this position you are not a person that is drawn to those types of sales techniques. We are not and never have been about the hard sale, either in our client selection or in our employee selection.

In short, we want a badass, we hope that can be you.

If you made it this far, then let us know what stood out to you from this posting in your application.
