Job Description:
We are looking for a Senior Associate with 6+ years of experience in cybersecurity law, specifically focused on incident response. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the legal and regulatory aspects of cybersecurity incidents, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of managing and responding to complex cybersecurity breaches. As a Senior Associate, you will play a crucial role in advising clients, managing incident response efforts, and contributing to the growth of our Cybersecurity practice.
Responsibilities:
Provide expert legal advice and counsel to clients on incident response, including breach notification requirements, regulatory obligations, and mitigation strategies.
Lead and manage incident response efforts, working closely with clients, forensic experts, and other stakeholders to contain and remediate cybersecurity incidents.
Conduct thorough investigations of cybersecurity breaches, including data analysis, evidence collection, and coordination with law enforcement when necessary.
Assist clients in developing and implementing robust incident response plans and policies to prepare for potential cybersecurity threats.
Represent clients in regulatory investigations and enforcement actions related to cybersecurity incidents.
Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and regulatory changes to provide clients with up-to-date advice and best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, risk management, and compliance, to ensure comprehensive incident response strategies.
Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and legal staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
Contribute to business development efforts, including client pitches, presentations, and thought leadership initiatives.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school..
Minimum of 6 years of experience in cybersecurity law, with a focus on incident response, preferably at a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.
Extensive knowledge of Canadian and international cybersecurity laws and regulations, including breach notification requirements.
Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.
A proactive, solution-oriented approach to legal issues.
