Position available for Full-time Legal Assistant/Receptionist for fast-paced, high volume Downtown Austin Criminal Defense Law Office.
Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
As the first appearance of the business by phone and in person, this position entails an extensive amount of interaction with current and potential clients, attorneys, and county officials, therefore, task accuracy and effective interpersonal communication skills are essential. Applicant must be outgoing, detail-oriented, articulate and self-motivated. Previous office and/or multi-line phone system experience is helpful.
Some Duties and Responsibilities Include:
1. Oversee all aspects of general office function.
2. Maintain office calendar for court appearances and meetings.
3. Answer all incoming calls and assist clients with a variety of questions or screen to obtain necessary detailed information.
4. Create a detailed message for all telephone communication and forward to appropriate attorney or staff member.
5. Request, obtain, and review paper and video discovery.
6. Perform general clerical duties including, but not limited to, copying, faxing, and mailing.
7. Communicate with current and potential clients to obtain required documents, collect payments, confirm court appearances, and schedule meetings.
8. Be able to recall specific client case information on the fly.
9. Create, serve and Efile ALR subpoenas.
10. Assist in special events, such as political fundraisers.

*Compensation: Starting at $19 /hour (negotiable based on experience)
