Senior Associate Jobs in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia at St. Leger Brockman Legal Recruitment + Secondments
Title: Senior Associate
Company: St. Leger Brockman Legal Recruitment + Secondments
Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
A lot of law firms claim that their lawyers act like an extension of their clients’ in-house legal teams, but this opportunity is probably the closest thing we’ve seen to an in-house style role in a law firm setting.
This is a role for a lawyer who enjoys being given responsibility, getting close to clients, and solving commercial problems.
You’ll be expected to:
- take ownership of matters and deliver high-quality legal advice;
- build genuine trust with clients and become a go-to problem solver;
- understand the commercial and financial context behind the legal issue;
- look for ways to prevent problems rather than simply respond to them;
- contribute ideas around technology, data, process improvement and better ways of delivering legal services; and
- support and share knowledge across the wider team.
It won’t suit someone who needs constant supervision or the structure of a traditional office environment.
You will work closely with leading lawyers and have the support of a strong, collegiate team, whilst enjoying a level of autonomy that you won’t find in a lot of firms.
This is a role for someone who likes being trusted to get on with things, is comfortable navigating complex client organisations, and wants to think more broadly about the value a lawyer can create.
Our client doesn’t have a fixed idea about who they want for this position. You might be an associate or senior associate in a law firm, an in-house lawyer looking to return to a law firm setting, or someone looking for a part-time or contract role. If you can contribute to the considerable success of the firm, they’ll invest in you.
Experience or an interest in technical, industrial or engineering-driven businesses would be particularly useful for this one.
