The Opportunity
An outstanding opportunity has become available for an Associate or Senior Associate to join a highly regarded commercial technology practice advising some of Australia’s leading organisations on complex technology, data and digital matters.
This team works at the intersection of technology, regulation and commercial law, supporting clients through significant digital transformation initiatives, major technology procurements, data governance projects, cyber incidents and strategic transactions. The practice acts across a broad range of industries including financial services, healthcare, infrastructure, telecommunications, energy, media and government.
Working closely with experienced practitioners, you will enjoy genuine responsibility from an early stage, direct client exposure and involvement in sophisticated, market-leading work. The team is collaborative, supportive and committed to developing lawyers who are looking to build a long-term career in this evolving area of practice.
The Role
This position offers exposure to a diverse mix of advisory, transactional and regulatory work, including:
- Advising on complex technology procurement, implementation and commercial contracting matters.
- Supporting clients on digital transformation, systems integration and large-scale business change projects.
- Advising on privacy, data governance, artificial intelligence and emerging technology regulation.
- Assisting organisations with cyber preparedness, incident response, regulatory investigations and compliance obligations.
- Acting on outsourcing and managed services arrangements across a range of industries.
- Advising on technology aspects of mergers, acquisitions, investments and corporate restructures.
- Supporting telecommunications, digital infrastructure and data centre projects.
- Working with innovative businesses on commercialisation, investment and growth initiatives.
The role offers the opportunity to work with a broad range of clients on matters that combine commercial, regulatory and strategic considerations in one of the fastest-growing areas of legal practice.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Experience gained within a recognised commercial technology, privacy, telecommunications or digital practice.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills across technology and commercial agreements.
- An interest in privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and emerging regulatory frameworks.
- Experience managing client relationships and contributing to complex transactions or advisory matters.
- Strong commercial judgement, attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing team.
- A genuine desire to continue developing technically while taking on increasing responsibility.
