Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Law or above. Graduated from a prestigious university. LL.M. or international legal qualifications preferred.
  2. Qualified lawyer in a major jurisdiction (preferably a civil law jurisdiction).
  3. 20+ years of legal experience, including work in multinational corporate legal departments or internationally recognized law firms.
  4. Extensive experience supporting overseas operations in mining, natural resources, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, or similar industries, particularly cross-border projects.
  5. Strong expertise in cross-border M&A, international project execution, and legal support for overseas operations.
  6. Familiar with international dispute resolution, arbitration, and litigation.
  7. Able to independently manage complex legal matters, with excellent legal analysis, risk assessment, communication, coordination, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist the General Counsel – International Operations in managing the Group's global legal affairs. Coordinate overseas legal teams, oversee significant legal matters, and support the implementation of the Group's international legal strategy.
  2. Provide legal support for overseas projects, regional operations, and assets. Advise overseas operations, joint ventures, and business units on day-to-day legal matters, supporting business decisions and contract execution.
  3. Provide legal support throughout the investment, construction, and operational lifecycle of overseas projects. Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, procurement agreements, and cooperation agreements, and support joint ventures and transaction structuring.
  4. Manage overseas litigation, arbitration, regulatory investigations, and major legal disputes. Coordinate legal responses to crises and oversee external law firms and legal counsel.
  5. Develop and strengthen the Group's overseas compliance framework covering anti-corruption, sanctions, export controls, and ESG. Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks, and support internal investigations and remediation.
  6. Maintain effective relationships with government regulators, business partners, and external legal counsel to ensure high-quality, responsive legal support.
  7. Coordinate legal teams across Headquarters, regional offices, and overseas operations. Enhance the overseas legal management framework while promoting knowledge sharing, and the development of international legal talent.
