Role Description The Risk and Compliance Associate role at Kanzu Code is a hybrid position based in Kampala, with a mix of on-site work and some work-from-home flexibility. This role involves monitoring and maintaining compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and applicable laws and regulations that affect Kanzu Banking and other digital solutions. The associate will review processes and documentation to identify potential risks, support the development and implementation of compliance frameworks, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address regulatory and legal requirements. Daily tasks include conducting compliance assessments, preparing reports and recommendations, supporting audits, and helping train team members on best practices related to risk and compliance. The role also requires clear communication of compliance expectations and findings to stakeholders across the organization.
Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Compliance Management and Regulatory Compliance, with experience maintaining frameworks or policies in a technology or financial services environment.
  • Proficiency in Legal Compliance, including understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and data protection requirements, and ability to interpret and apply them to organizational processes.
  • Demonstrated Analytical Skills to assess risks, review documentation and data, identify trends, and recommend practical mitigations.
  • Effective Communication skills for clearly explaining compliance requirements, preparing reports, and collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Relevant academic background such as a degree or professional training in law, business, finance, risk management, or a related field.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with digital products or financial technology platforms, and experience working with SACCOs, MFIs, or financial institutions is an added advantage.
  • Integrity, a proactive approach to identifying and addressing risks, and willingness to continuously learn about evolving regulations and industry best practices.
