Purpose of Job
Jobholders at this level are experienced professionals capable of conducting work with general directions. They are primarily concerned with developing solutions to challenges which require some analysis to understand and resolve, and addressing issues escalated from more junior levels. They undertake complex operational activities including drafting ZATCAâs objections and appeals strategy and managing the development of evaluations for received custom cases posed against ZATCA.
Job Responsibilities
Tax Cases Planning
Receive litigation cases from audit team and provide support to prioritize cases for analysis based on pre-defined criteria
Research and analyze laws, regulations and policies depending on each case for proper analysis
Tax Cases Assessment
Coordinate with concerned stakeholders and collect needed documents to be able to conduct high level assessment from a legal standpoint
Assist in analyzing cases and provide basic recommendations on best course of action based on gathered technical input from tax appeals analysts
Objections and Appeals Management
Receive any arising objections from concerned parties, coordinate with tax appeals analysts for technical analysis and escalate complex issues when needed
Assist in preparing full objections and appeals file, gather assessment results, recommendations and all supporting documents and submit to Tax Appeals Legal Specialist for revision and finalization
Prepare tax-related case documents ensuring all information are gathered and assist in the negotiation meetings with concerned committees to reach common ground
Assist in drafting communications to taxpayers related to final decisions taken, extract lessons learned and highlight inefficiencies for improvement purposes
Communicate decisions to concerned parties ensuring alignment with expectations, report on implementation and highlight areas for improvement
Organization and Operations
Follow all relevant policies, processes and standard operating procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner
Help in solving escalated problems and provide needed support for junior team to ensure work is carried out in an efficient manner
Escalate complex problems to the relevant person to ensure cases/issues are closed properly
Perform other duties as requested
People Management
Train junior staff on the different job activities to ensure transfer of know-how, when applicable
Provide clear direction, prioritize tasks, assign and delegate responsibility, and monitor the workflow of subordinates/ junior staff
Support junior staff or direct reports in order to execute their duties according to set policies and processes

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law Studies, or equivalent is required
Experience
A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
